Slice of Life #79: Christmas Carols

Blogger gave me fits last week and it's still acting up. For some reason all it shows me is html code - not the usual compose screen I'm used to. I hope this is just a glitch... but as they say, the stories must be written regardless. Please forgive spelling errors and what-not - I can't proof in this mode.




Today as they announced in our church that services would only be an hour long I reflected over my favorite Christmas: the year that Christmas fell on Sunday and the entire congregation sang nothing but Christmas Carols for one hour before we said prayers and went home. It was a beautiful service!

I have other favorite carolling memories: hay rides with carolling and hot chocolate, singing in pageants, listening to certain songs put me back in a particular moment, and there are those that stir me from the depths of my soul. How about you? How have Christmas Carols touched your life?

Recent events in the news remind me of this song. There are several roads to take with this prompt - a scandal you were involved in, witnessed, or how certain scandals in the news have affected you. Or maybe they didn't at all.

So that slice of scandalous life of yours - was it bitter, or delectable?

Slice of Life #77: Transitions

"WOW."

My daughter is pretty good with comical expressions. She and her brother often don't have to say anything to get you laughing - it's all in the face.

I noticed on Facebook that a lot of people had maybe their best Thanksgiving ever. I felt that way too. And then I noticed that right after that came a flood of people mentioning that they were entering a transition phase of life. Husbands going out of town to work, new babies, folks moving out of homes they've lived in for years... it can be exciting and traumatic all at once.

This week, pick a transition and try to find something that made you better/stronger out of it. Looking back, write the wisdom you gained coming out that you wish you had been given going in.

Stretching those memory muscles this week. :)
