Slice of Life #82: The "Dash"

Recently I have been asking myself, "What is holding me back?" There are some things I want to accomplish that I feel I should have already done, but still have neglected to take the steps to make them happen. It's not that they're hard or out of reach - it's simply a matter of, "there's always tomorrow." It's that dash in the middle of here and there that gets in the way.

So this week's slice of life is, "What's your dash in the middle?" Is it getting on the treadmill?
Buying that CD to learn a new language? Is it taking a class so you can get that raise? Making a phone call to start repairs in a relationship? Booking the flight so you'll finally take that vacation?

I posted this song because I love how they show each boy stuck in a situation - immobilized. And then each one moves into "the dash." Whether you dare to move or not is up to you - first, let's write. ;)

Slice of Life #79: Christmas Carols

Blogger gave me fits last week and it's still acting up. For some reason all it shows me is html code - not the usual compose screen I'm used to. I hope this is just a glitch... but as they say, the stories must be written regardless. Please forgive spelling errors and what-not - I can't proof in this mode.

Today as they announced in our church that services would only be an hour long I reflected over my favorite Christmas: the year that Christmas fell on Sunday and the entire congregation sang nothing but Christmas Carols for one hour before we said prayers and went home. It was a beautiful service!

I have other favorite carolling memories: hay rides with carolling and hot chocolate, singing in pageants, listening to certain songs put me back in a particular moment, and there are those that stir me from the depths of my soul. How about you? How have Christmas Carols touched your life?

Slice of Life #78: Scandal!!

Can you tell yet that I was a teen in the eighties?

Recent events in the news remind me of this song. There are several roads to take with this prompt - a scandal you were involved in, witnessed, or how certain scandals in the news have affected you. Or maybe they didn't at all.

So that slice of scandalous life of yours - was it bitter, or delectable?

Slice of Life #76: Our Song

When my husband and I were growing up, we were a bit like the couple Taylor Swift is singing about. We didn't really have "a song" until we danced in the parking lot to The Glory of Love by Peter Cetera. There are some songs that have reminded me of my dad, and I know some families that have a song they sing together often enough that hearing someone else sing it brings back a flood of memories.

What's your song, and who is it connected to? Or is there a song that pretty much sums you up all by your lonesome?

Slice of Life #64: If I Could Turn Back Time

I find music such a source of inspiration, don't you?

We've all had regrets where we said or did something that we wish we could go back and fix. So that's this week's prompt - what would YOU turn back time for? What would you change? What happened as a result?

OR

Maybe you don't need to go back in time. Maybe you've already made amends. That would be an awesome story to save too.
