Slice of Life #83: "Bored Now"

Summer 2011

One of my son's had a habit of saying, "It's boring!" or "I'm bored." That is, until we gave him something to do so he wouldn't be bored, such as cleaning his room or putting away dishes. ;) This particular son was expressing his boredom at taking photos - he's very good at letting you know how he feels... with or without words.

This week, write about how boredom has entered your life, and how you handle it.

Slice of Life #78: Scandal!!

Can you tell yet that I was a teen in the eighties?

Recent events in the news remind me of this song. There are several roads to take with this prompt - a scandal you were involved in, witnessed, or how certain scandals in the news have affected you. Or maybe they didn't at all.

So that slice of scandalous life of yours - was it bitter, or delectable?

Slice of Life #73: Annoyed

Don't take my picture.
I'm BUSY.

What annoys you?

Is it particular people, pet peeves, stubbing your toe, habits....? I usually try to focus on the positive, but let's be real - there are things that annoy us. We are human! Not to mention today's world gives us a whole new format of annoyances - people like Julian Smith have posted montages on social network pet peeves. The annoyances of today might be outdated tomorrow.

Sit back, give it a thought, and then let it fly! :)

Slice of Life #59: Patriotism

If you've ever been to Texas, you'll understand
the joke - Texans are still proud of the fact that
they are the only state that was it's own country
before accepted into the Union.

While they're patriotic for America, they are
even more patriotic to TEXAS.

Patriotism - devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty.

Since we're not all from the same country on the Internet, a prompt for "Fourth of July" is a bit inappropriate. But everyone has a country they belong to - patriotism isn't just for Americans. I love watching folks from across the ocean speak with enthusiasm for the country they love. In fact, a close friend of mine is from London and she and I had a great time as she explained the significance of the Royal Wedding. I felt like I was standing there with her, cheering in the crowd. It was glorious.

So this week, let your patriotism shine. Let's hear how much you love you country, or how you show it. Do you decorate? Hang a flag in your yard? Sing the national anthem? Teach with love and passion about political affairs? Vote? Etc.... there are as many different ways to show patriotism as there are people. No one views life the same -how does your corner of the world knows you're proud to be a/an _______?

Looking forward to your slice of life this week! :)

Slice of Life #55: Naughty, Naughty

Put your angel away.

At least, remember the time you did. The time your mother said, "No party while we're gone" and you had one anyway. The time you were throwing lit firecrackers out the car window and missed so they burned your best friend's mom's new van. The time you confetti-ed the coach's yard... and got caught. The time you hung your best friend's stuffed rabbit at girls camp.

Those times.

Yeah. Naughty, Naughty. This week, let's hear how naughty you really were. Because of course you've duct taped the little devil's mouth by now... right? Or are you still sporting a crooked halo like me? :D
